Should I be feeling THIS breathless?

Have had a cough for about three bloody weeks now. Coughing up green gunk, and am so breathless it's unbelievable. I don't smoke and never have.
Saw my GP last week who listened to my chest but couldn't hear anything. Confirmed probably viral and would have to just run it's course.
I am so utterly sick of it now though and just want it gone. As soon as I do anything I am breathless and exhausted. I only feel okay when I am resting and even then an still bloody coughing so much I am retching.

Is it worth me seeing the GP again? I don't expect antibiotics but am stressing about the breathlessness despite the NHS Choices website confirming this is normal.

So so sick of this bloody cough.

Yes, go back. Green gunk = bacterial infection that antibiotics can help.

I was ill for about 2 months, got antibs and felt like a new woman after a week! There's been a lot of horrible coughs about recently.

Seeing a GP at 9am, feel like a fraud as I never usually need anything for this kind of thing. Had antibiotics for a dental abscess three weeks ago just as this was starting and it didb't stop me getting this hence my thoughts of "it's viral".Sad

Co-amoxyclav for 5 days.

If no improvement after 48hrs I have to go back so they can see if I need hospitalisation.Shock

GP thinks that as I am a non (never) smoker and not asthmatic that the antibiotics should do it.Smile

Good, well done! Hope they work quickly, they usually do.

I know what you mean about feeling a fraud, it's why it took me so long to go and get sorted, but then I felt an idiot for 'soldiering on' so long needlessly. Can't win!

Thanks Rational, my family are collecting DS from school for me so I can rest. Am drinking plenty of fluids too. Fingers crossed this sorts it out.
