Moving house - do we have to change GP?

Does anyone know the answer to this one please. We're moving next week, only a few miles away but it takes us over the county boundary. Do we have to find a new GP?

Check with your GP's about the area that they cover, ours specify and won't take out of the area.

We didn't change GP when we moved and they never asked us to even when we changed our address on their records.

Thanks, I thought there was probably done kind of catchment. I'll ring and check tomorrow.

I think it is more to do with a home visit if needed and gp travelling time.

You may get lucky and they'll continue to cover you, or they may not. My mother had to change GP when she moved five miles within the same county, the practise said they would be unable to make home visits out of catchment.
