Keep getting styes (klaxon)

Ever since DS2 came along 7 months ago I've had a sty in one eye or another almost constantly. i've mentioned it to my optician but she wasn't very helpful. I wear contact lens and glasses (more the latter lately). I'm disciplined about washing my hands after nappy changes etc but I continue to get them. I don't sleep much and get dry eyes could this be part of the problem?

TMI warning

The worst one I ever had was about 2 months ago - it's got it's own flicker page - look! Against all advice I squeezed the bugger - it was incredibly painful! (don't recommend) but loads of yellowy white pus oozed out!

Any advice for getting rid of them - i'm worried that they might be a reflection of a deeper health problem :(

I get them when I am properly sleep deprived. It's totally predictable - run of bad nights = stye within the week. Just to add a bit of puffy redness to the grey skin Hmm

I think it's just because your eyes are more susceptible to infection if they're open all the bloody time you sleepless little buggers more than usual. Or something.

Ohbug thank you. Sorry to hear you suffer too. I've got one now that is quietly throbbing away Sad. Poor sore eye!
