Is tonsillitis always nasty?

I have a bit of a sore throat, very furry tongue, ginormous glands in my throat, white flecks all over my tonsils, just-been-to-the-gym-when-I-haven't type muscle pains, and a bit of a temperature (about 101 degrees).

I'd say that adds up to tonsillitis except I just don't feel that poorly. A bit sorry for myself, but when I've had tonsillitis in the past I have been absolutely floored, hot, and my throat has been agony. My throat is only really a problem when I eat or sleep.

I think I picked it up from DS who has been very poorly since the weekend, but when I took him to the doctors yesterday she said he was too young to get tonsillitis (he's 2.5) and that she could rule it out because he didn't have swollen glands.

Could I have a mild variant or am I going to get a lot sicker?

i think it can vary, that it doesn't always follow the same set of ailments.

dd has it and sometimes has fever, headache and sore throat, sometimes she's just exhausted with a fairly mild throat, but she always has stinky breath.

I am looking out this yr for the amount of times she has it, so we can see about the op.

are you taking anything?
