Unusual nappy rash

DS (19 weeks) has recently developed nappy rash around the edges of the nappy (inside of his legs, between his penis and his bellybotton) but not anywhere else. I'm not sure whether to try the usual nappy rash remedies as nappy rash usually seems to be around the bottom. Could he be having a reaction to the nappies? We've been using pampers since he was born, but have recently moved up a size.

Have you just moved out of newborn into the active fit sizes? I have heard of some issues with babies being sensitive to these nappies

Yep! We've moved into size 3. We've also started leaving him at night unless he seems to need it, but the location of the rash seemed to suggest that this maybe wasn't the issue.

Hmm I would think about switching brands then to see. Shouldn't be an issue leaving for the night as long as not poo. And ime nappy rash due to poo is on the bottom not round the edges. If you've got loads o packs you end up not being able to use supermarket will usually swap for you

I wonder if it is infantile eczema. I would pop to the gp and have a chat, it could be he is getting hot in those places and it is irritating the skin and casuing eczema, rather than an allergic reaction to the nappy.

Thanks. I'll get it checked out and will try some other brands. He's BFed and averages one (truly epic) poo a week.
