Hi all,
Just wanted to ask your advice; we went to Egypt in February and I got bitten horrendously (I forgot insect repellent for 1 night - huge mistake. I got bitten over 60 times from my feet to my thighs).

Since we've been back I keep waking up with 1 or 2 bites on my calfs. The egypt bites were big red angry bites whereas these ones are small (1-2mm) red dots, they are a bit itchy but not horrendous like the others.

I've done a MN search as I was panicking about bed bugs but one lady on a thread desctibed similar to mine and the general feeling was that if the bites were on lower legs it was fleas.

We don't have pets, my parents have a dog but she's flea'd regularly.

Only I'm getting bitten, my husband isn't. Can fleas be picky enough to bite one of us and not the other (though in Egypt we all forgot the repellent that night and I was the only that got bitten - can 1 person be particularly attractive to bugs?).

I'm starting to get slightly freaked out by the state of my legs. They looked so awful after Egypt and now with these bites I'm worried my legs are going to be scarred and awful forever (I know this sounds really vain!)

Thanks
x

Poor you, have been bitten by bedbugs (in France on holiday) and they were awful - took weeks to go down and get back to normal!

Tiny bites on calves do sound like fleas, and if you've been out in the garden at all that is probably where they are coming from. I think foxes are the culprit, at least where we live.

And I get bitten very easily - my dh, on the other hand, hardly ever! Something to do with who gives off the most carbon dioxide Shock

Its that new ones are coming up almost everyday that's bothering me. I've started wearing insect repellant if I know I'm going to be near grass/bushes etc.
I've bought some flea spray today and will vacuum the bedroom thoroughly and change bedding etc. later and give everything a good spray.
Makes me itchy thinking about it!
carbon dioxide eh!?!

Could it be ringworm? It's v infectious and any animal/person can have it so you can get it from any animal domestic or wild or from another person who has it. Maybe worth googling images of ringworm rash just to rule it out. If it is ringworm I think you'd need different cream/tabs to what you'd need for flea bites.

Mosquito's- I thought we had fleas but turned out to be them?

Curlybrunette · 16/04/2012 20:32

Hi Tunaday, I didn't know what ringworm looked like but I googled it and I don't think it is, they are random spots rather than the ringlike appearance it suggests. Thanks for suggesting it though.

Sonriente - can you have mosquito's living inside? I tend to think of them as outdoor bugs?

Can't wait to get vacuuming, dh home soon and I need him to help me move the bed!
