I had a long sinus infection, then a chest infection - after 2 lots of sntibiotics, the nasal pain stopped and my chest was pronounce clear. " weeks later, I was told I had post nasal drip and a post viral cough - was given anti histamines and an inhaler. Now , 4 weeks on, it seems I am still suffering from post nasal drip; my throat is killing me and I stil have phlegm (sorry)

I have tried steaming, saline rinses, and am still on anti histamines and steroid nasal spray as well as parcetamol/ibuprofen but the sore throat is still there.

any known cures?

This could have been me posting this!! I've had a post nasal drip for about four years and just put up with it until I actually thought it was probably responsible for most of the sinus/chest problems I keep getting. I've got what looks like a tonsil stone on one of my tonsils, but it isn't as it's not coming out (eeuggh), and this is sore. I've had a bad chest all week, which the Dr tells me is viral. I'm doing the steaming, nasal spray and paracetamol but to no avail - feel less "virally" and unwell, just completely knackered and run down. My GP recommended a really good quality probiotic from a health food shop not the sugary ones, as she believes that this can help with overall immunity - hoping this makes a difference, I'm completely fed up now!

Hi Frazzled - I didnt know probiotics were for general immunity, but I have just started taking them again as they help my IBS, so maybe they'll help. I have also had this nasal thing for several years, not sure if its time to politely request a referral to ENT or something.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, not sure how old you are (!) - I'm 45 and going through the menopause. My sinus/post nasal drip has definitely got worse during this time....

I'm 38, Frazzled. Nightmare to have that to add to other menopause symptoms Sad. Think I'll book yet another visit and be brave enough to ask what next!

Previous GP diagnosed this about six years ago, present one been prescribing abs for something else which might be helping, but apart from trying OP's treatments, best thing I've found is simply rinsing mouth out first thing with warm water.
