PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE NEWS !! and more

Today the dept of health made a statement to confirm that the Pneumococcal vaccine(Prevenar) will be introduced.

Also there will be two new boosters vaccines for one year olds for men c and Hib meningitis.

All the info you need about the new vaccines is on the meningitis research.org homepage. (can someone please do a link for me)

Said this before, pleased that millions of other children will not have to lose their lives like my daughter but feel sad and very angry that our lives have been torn apart by a disease that could have been prevented.

Have been meaning to contact you since seeing the news

I was so happy when I saw it, but also cried and cried knowing that if it had been available 4 years ago I would still have Ellie as she should be, without Brain damage.

Although I know we are lucky to have her, I would rather have her without special needs

Also thought of you when I saw the news and knew you would also be so happy yet so very sad and hurt

I do think about you and your family often

Angie, It's so sad to think children like Ellie and Freya have paid the ultimate price for our government delaying the introduction of Prevenar due to cost. The USA have been using Prevenar since 2000 why has our country taken 6 years to realise the importanace of this vaccine?

As i'm writing this somewhere in the country is a family sitting at their childs bedside in an PICU going through the hell we went through watching our daughter fighting for her life.
All i can think is that in a few months no child who is vaccinated will suffer like Freya and no family will suffer the pain of losing a precious child to this terrible disease.
