Hello. I hope someone can help.
My fanjo starting hurting over weekend and has slowly got worse. Saw gp on Tues who diagnosed thrush and gave me a one off tablet, which takes 2 days to work.
Weeing was fine, but whole area sore. No discharge or itching just pain.

Anyway pain has got so much worse, can't sit, stand or walk properly and still hurts lying down. Just tried to have a wee and nearly fainted through pain.
It seems as though whole area is very swollen. Sorry if TMI
I am seeing gp at 11 but how do I manage until then?

Thank you for any help you may give

Not sure what to suggest though doesn't sound like thrush given your pain.

Have you taken nurofen/paracetamol. That might give you a bit of relief.

Hope you get sorted soon!

Poor Luke warm water over when you next need to wee, it will help dilute it. Sad

kahlua4me · 12/04/2012 07:16

Thank you
Have just taken some painkillers so hope that will help

kahlua that sounds awful.roll on 11 for you.
Not much advice just sympathy.i have had this though not as bad as you.more pain than itching.i am loathe to suggest anything in case it makes it worse but some say cool bath with bicarb of soda.i would try and go without putting anything on it til you have seen dr.sounds like it may be something else.if in so much pain going to loo try running jug of cool water over as you go.good luck.

Agree that pessaries are much better than the tablets, poor you. Yes, live yoghurt should help too if you have a shop close it might cool things down a bit.

Bubbaluv · 12/04/2012 09:21

I found having a bath with tea tree oil in it gave relief for a few hours.

PinkPolkaDots · 12/04/2012 09:43

poor you, I sympathise - its so bad. I get it quite regularly and am usually climbing the walls with pain!
I always have a canesten sp? thingy in the bathroom cupboard for next time it appears, either the oral tablet/pessary/internal cream so I can use it next time it creeps up on me.
Do you have a nearby chemist where you could get some external cream before your appointment?
I find this very soothing.

cornsyilk · 12/04/2012 09:46

pain killers should help for a short while.
thrush is a bastard

kahlua4me · 12/04/2012 13:41

Seen gp. She thinks it may be herpes but I have no idea how I got it. Dh has just seen her too, to check, and he is fine. She has taken swabs and a urine sample from me to send to hosp.

Have been with my dh for 12 years and very happily married. Have not had sex with anyone else for over 14 years. I know also that he is not playing around.

How else could I get it?
I have had 3 examinations recently as have a prolapse would that be the cause?
What else could it be?

Sorry for all the questions!

Why does she think that - are there other symptoms?

kahlua4me · 12/04/2012 13:47

No, just sore and swollen. Weeing hurts too.

Herpes is a virus isnt it? they can lie dormant for years and come out again when you are rundown. Eg chicken pox stays in our spinal cord for years iirc.

Bubbaluv · 13/04/2012 01:41

Either of you get cold sores? It's the same virus.

kahlua4me · 13/04/2012 06:28

Never have had cold sores. Dh has had a sore lip but we thought it was sunburn! Gp saw him yesterday and did not think it was herpes.

I now think it must be as my symptoms now are so similar to others one here. I am in so much pain and feel very sick with it.

could be a bacterial infection, not thrush or a virus. The swabs will tell you that. Maybe you had thrush and then got a secondary bacterial infection?
Hope you get sorted soon.

might be slightly late to the party, but if anyone has the same issue, STI's can be transmitted in more ways than just having sex, you could contract it from sitting on the same toilet seat as someone with the disease or swimming in an unclean pool. Theres no need to worry about your partner cheating or them thinking that you cheated.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/09/2023 09:34

That’s bollocks. Sexually transmitted infections come from an infected person engaging with sexual contact with a person be it penetrative or oral sex.
