Bleeding mid-cycle - should I be worried?

I am on about day 13 of my cycle and have been bleeding today - I bled when I went to the toilet this morning then nothing else but have just been for a wee again and more came out so it is not just spotting. Don't want to scare myself by googling but am a bit concerned that this isn't normal.

Any ideas?

One last bump - otherwise I am going to succumb to Google Wink

It need not be anything sinister - breakthrough bleeding is often associated with ovulation, given the timing day 13 the most likely explanation. If it continues (and depending on your age) it could also be a sign of premenopause due to continuous estrogen production. I would watch and wait but go to the gps if bleeding continues for more than a week or gets heavier or accompanied by pain.
