Fibromyalgia

I was looking for anyone that has experience of this, a colleague of mine was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and she was talking about her symptoms I felt that I had similar symptoms listening to her so did a bit of research. Alot of it makes sense and it makes me feel less of a hypochondriac. I have anxiety (though this is alot better now) I get weird tingling sensations over my head and neck sometimes, I get chronic headaches, have sciatic type pain, if I get a cold etc it takes me ages to feel normal again, I have asthma too which doesn't help, restless legs occasionally, costachondritis and ibs. I thought about broaching this with my gp next time I am there but don't want him to laugh old his eyes at me.

Also sleep can be a problem too, if I wake up during the night I will be awake for ages, and never feel refreshed in the morning.

Hi
I'm sorry your having all of these symptoms it must be miserable for you. Fibromyalgia usually takes a long time to get diagnosed and is not often diagnosed by a GP - If they suspect it they may refer you to a rhumatologist. Its quite a controversial condition with some believing that it is all in the mind etc but in my experience it is a very real condition that does need to be treated (once diagnosed).
To help yourself in the mean time it might be useful to take a close look at your diet as poor diet and too much caffeine/alcohol/cigarets/not enough, or not correct, vitamins and minerals can cause some of your symptoms. Also, if its safe for you to do so, try increasing your exercise.
