it really is unbearable and i cant sleep for it, my skin is raw..my head is also itching but no nasties there and no creams or cool water have stopped it.
cant get doc app for two weeks unless i ring back monday and check if any cancellations, but cant do it again tonight

Oooh Custy that sounds horrid!!

I have an itcy patch on my stomach and have had it for more than a week.. it looks like eczema now altho was orignially scabby due to me scratching the rash. Never had eczema.. no idea what it is. Seems to respond a bit to DS's 1% hydrocortisone ointment. Most odd.

Let us know how you get on.

hi
well night itching has stopped(good job as dd has chest infectionand i would have time to scratch as im catching sick every two mins)

but am still getting constant niggly itching..head, back, everywhere, thinking about it makes you worse doesnt it.

pharmacist at chemist said couldnt advise as theres nothing to see, but to continue with antihistemine until i can get appointment with doc.

Ick, you poor thing - and DS too. I had urticaria for a couple of winters running, and only antihistamine helped - I found Zirtec good for mine. I had no rash, but it did come up in sort of red/white weals if I itched...and never found a cause, it just stopped in the Spring.
That said, I did have a chronic liver condition at the time - though they said 'no connection - so I know for a fact that Zirtek is better to take liver-wise than Clarityn. Just until you get to the doctor and have tests - just in case.
Hope you all feel better soon!

(just kidding!)

chipmonkey · 10/02/2006 23:51

Scabies???? I had it years ago, sounded exactly as you're describing, had to paint myself with a horrible fluid!

jampots · 10/02/2006 23:53

i used to get terrible itching but admittedly it came with a weal type rash - doctor was crap and basically said "you're allergic" so I lived on antihistamines. I since found Im sensitive to dairy so have cut from my diet and rash/itching has gone.

Occasionally my hands and feet itch but I find using an exfoliant on my feet (which obviously helps to properly "scratch") and then smothering them with cream helps.

Could poss. be something to do with liver function? Ostetric cholestasis (itching during pg with no rash) is to do with the liver and some people can experience a similar problem when not pg, esp at certain times of the month. Would do an internet search on that, I don't know the details I'm afraid.

dont know if anyone has suggested this as i aint read it all, they probably have. surely you can get an emergency appt? if your making your skin raw you need something quick. i would say its pretty serious, they cant deny you one anyway. the receptionists have no business asking what is wrong with you.

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 12/02/2006 19:23

still itching, but not waking up through night and its mainly located to arms, back and head now althoughgroing(just inside my leg not my other bits) are pretty bad too.
we do have gall stone prob in family - my mum and she has terrible red tight skin, never thought of that, but no tummy pain though.
am gunna get car tomorrow as very busy week with hol friday, so will try to get to joint surgery with nurse if i miss all morning app at my local.
it is bearble now as i wouldnt still be sat here, but still uncomfortable!
