Pain after root canal

In throbbing pain from tooth which was root canal filled - only yesterday but wasn't expecting this. Also low cos of other things - but nothing will take this sharp and throbbing (in equal measure) pain away.

Panadol is all I have here - should I go out and get aspirin/ibruprofen? Any suggestions welcome! Thanks.

when i had mine it took a few days to settle, i took neurofen with codamol with paracetamol.

I had a severe allergy to the temporary dressing they put into the cavity. It was throbbing and painful. Had to have the dressing removed and was given some steroid based filler to calm the reaction down. Once the tooth was filled with the permanent filler it was absolutely fine. This might not be your problem though.

Glad you got sorted, jalopy. Thanks for your responses both - ah, this is hell. Tooth is feeling so tender. Any suggestions gratefully received! Especially some hope that it'll settle in a day or two!

Pain will last up to a couple of weeks. Ibuprofen is generally the bast as it's an anti-inflamatory.
Hope you feel better soon.

what tooth was it? i've had root canal where it didn't hurt much at all and one that was agony for a week!

top left - at the end - well next to a gap with a metal implant. Ready for the crown once I can afford it. But the chronic pain seems to be coming from the tooth itself - thanks for your support, all.
