Had it. Couple of days, not bothered to look, but felt I throbbing by my shin bone. Had. Look while in the bath and I can it pulsing! And, simultaneously, the second big toe is throbbing\moving on its own. When my foot is fixed strsight I can feel pressure under/by top ankle boney area.

Wtf is that about?!

Have you got a DVT? Is it painful?

mamalovesmojitos · 06/04/2012 19:50

Blood clot maybe? Is it swollen? Measure both legs and compare them, then ring nhs direct immediately.

mamalovesmojitos · 06/04/2012 19:51

Don't worry, my message sounded abrupt. They will know what to do Smile. But don't ignore it.

PavlovtheCat · 06/04/2012 20:13

not painful, or swollen. BUT.

In the other leg, in the calf, I had a painful bruised patch for a day, really hurt, but no actual bruising to see, with a little swelling, and throbbing in that leg. It moved upwards and I was Shock for about an hour, then it disappeared. That was about 3-4 days ago. And I did actually google DVT, but I am not in the 'at risk' group, and I have all sorts of aches and pains to do with my sciatica. I put it down to that...but the dvt did cross my mind vaguely and then I dismissed it as it went away.

it would not be in both legs if it was something as serious as DVT would it?

its really odd though, the throbbing in my calf is actually making my toe move! and it has not gone away! (or got any worse either).

and hopefully no more odd full stops as not on ipad now, on laptop with a real keyboard...Grin

Maybe a muscle twitch if your toe is moving, had that before.

Milliways · 06/04/2012 20:21

I get random twitches, "nerve fasciculations" and it is weird when my big toe jumps up and down. Mainly they are in my arms and I sometimes get tiny ones in my face that I am convinced everyone can see but looking in the mirror they are tiny. I get very visible ones around my knee when lying in bed. Totally harmless and very common apparently.

Milliways · 06/04/2012 20:23

info here

PavlovtheCat · 06/04/2012 20:28

its definitely vein area and not muscle. I have been watching it. pulsing. I think it must be slightly trapped or something. As to why both legs who knows. I dont think dvt as no pain.

(but I have just gone to get the phone so its near me...just in case i start feeling unwell as DH is at work til midnight...

It'll be to do with the disc/sciatica thing Pav, i get this but can only see it not feel it.

PavlovtheCat · 06/04/2012 20:30

milliways i I get those in my eyelids sometimes! Normally when I am tired. Did not know they can occur in the leg

foof is that you with an eggsellent easter version of your name?! I was hoping it was to do with sciatic/nerve stuff, but, cant see anything on any info which talks about nerve twitches like this. I am/was not sure if nerve or vein, but it seems like a nerve. But does not feel like usual sciatic pain.

Its well weird though. my toe is actually moving back and fowards.

FoeufFighter · 06/04/2012 20:35

yes it's me

PavlovtheCat · 06/04/2012 20:51

so, basically, its not DVT I dont think as It would have done something else by now. I think I would know wouldn't i? by now? after it doing this all afternoon?

So, seeing as other people have experienced it, including Foof who has back problems including sciatica like me, I shall put this down to a weird anomoly that my body is doing as a result of me probably doing too much in the garden today, but that is probably harmless (although might indicate nerve entrapment but thats a whole other thread!)

if it sets your mind at rest I had a DVT scan (ultrasound/doppler thing from inner thigh to ankle) as my affected leg kept swelling up lower leg but it was clear so that could be another future thing that might possibly happen for you too.

PavlovtheCat · 07/04/2012 22:29

Oh I will keep an eye out. Been doing the weird thing all day! I showed Dh,he was less impressed than me as he is squeamish! He thought I was doing it myself at first til I asked him to wiggle his own second toe on its one, with a beat, he couldnt do it, then sort of went white when he realised.

It's not got worse so I shall take it as not serious. But will mention it when I next see gp or osteo.
