yoga help

Hi all,
I want to take up yoga to relieve stress and generally improve my wellbeing. Can you recommen any tried and tested dvds for beginners ?

The guy who was on gmtv Matt something is supposed to be very good. Sorry I'm not much help!

I'd recommend going to a few classes to get the basics and so the teacher can check your posture etc. Otherwise you might hurt yourself trying to do it from a DVD. Pilates is good too (I do Pilates rather than yoga).

hello mamaLou - I agree with amelia, - if you can get to a class, you will get the most benefit. The things about yoga that really help with stress are the breathing and the relaxation techniques, - and they are much easier to learn them in the peace and quiet of a lesson, with someone guiding you through the relaxation.

Also if you find any particular postures difficult, a yoga teacher will be able to suggest adaptations and alternatives that are more comfortable for you, to give you the same benefits.

I do lots of yoga, and I love it,and it has helped enormously with my stress levels - I hope you enjoy it too Smile
