Mooncup cleaning

I have been using the mooncup for almost a year and I find it is not in it's pristine colour anymore. This counts especially for those little holes where things get stuck. How do you clean those?

and do you wash the little sack you store it in?

I pop mine in a Tupperware with sterilising tablets until I use it again. Comes out all shiny clean Grin

I admit that all I do with mine is boil it occasionally (on the hob when dp is out!). I've had it for two or three years and it doesn't look as clean as it did originally - it's slightly discoloured - but I'm confident that it is in fact clean and I don't really care how it looks. I lost the ribbon from the little bag at some point and kept meaning to make a new little bag but now I'm pregnant so I suppose when I finally need it again I'll have to get the bigger size anyway.

I bleached mine recently (jug of water and a cap full of bleach for an hour or so) and it came out like new.

Normally I just boil it at the end of my period and put it away, but I think sterilising tablets (probably better for it - I just used Domestos Blush) once every six months or so won't do any harm.

You can put it on the windowsill for a day and the sun/light will work its magic on it. I do have doubts about Domestos being used on it!

instantfamily · 30/03/2012 17:18

Mumfun, you exhibit your mooncup on the windowsill? Not sure I am brave enough to do this. Will try with the bleach.

Thanks all.

If you boil it don't forget it till you smell an odd smoky smell like I did this morning. Not good for the mooncup or the pan Blush
