Ok I have a DR appt for sat Hmm but am in pain and need relief
I had cystitis on sun and straight away took cystipurin which cleared the blood and the pain. Now I still need to wee all the time, but may be due to the fact that I am drinking loads and I have an awful pain in my upper back under my shoulder blade, my right side and my lower abdomen. Is this normal? It is pretty bad I had to leave work early
TIA

I don't think you should wait so long to see a doctor really,UTI's can get quite nasty.
I suffer from them, and have learnt to get antibiotics sharpish for them or I get quite ill.
Why don't you phone NHS direct, and get some advice what to do.
Much sympathy.

Tks was wondering about changing the appt, I will ring at 7 pm when the evening surgery starts.
Unfortunately I am not in the UK, it is going to cost me Euro 60 plus meds, think that is making me sicker. I will really have to learn to stay rehydrated at work, and go to the toilet when I need to

Sympathies - I am currently suffering, no where near as bad as you are but I have been to the doctor for antibiotics as I know how quickly the infection can spread. Cystopurin and other similar things only really alleviate the symptoms, they can help flush the germs out in mild cases but, sounds like you do need antibiotics

Is there any chance you could be pregnant? Shoulder pain can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy. It might be worth going to our of hours Smile

don't wait until saturday FGS!! it might be a UTI now, but it can track back to your kidneys then you are in all sorts of trouble. Get to the doctors in the mornin, insist that you are seen. In the meantime drink gallons

You have my sympathy, i have actually felt suicidal with a UTI before i was in so much pain, i just culdnt find any relief. Fortunately, as soon as i get ABs down me i recover very quickly. Mine have a nasty habit of coming at the weekend and the last couple of times i have seen the nurse practitioner at the out of hours clinic, they have given me antibiotics. They can't presccribe them but they have them on site and can dispense them.

Don't leave this til saturday, you'll be in hospital by then!

yes, take a sample or they will let you do one there, just a clean container will do it doesn't have to be sterile as they are only looking for blood and protein in your urine.

Hope you get a sooner appt

I'm worried about your report of pain as I had pregnancy related kidney stones that gave me shoulder pain, and gallstones can do this too. You cant wait till sat!!!! Where you live, can you just pitch up at A&E? I always got a good response (which tbh was sometimes admission) if I did this.

If I were you I'd try high dose ibuprofen (600mg x 3 per day) to see if it helped (it sounds high but my pharmacist suggested it before I saw the doctor).

canyou · 28/03/2012 10:49

Thks for all the advice I have an appt today at 11.30 thank God as I was up and down all night with the pain surprisingly not peeing,I have been taking paracetamol as I am allergic to ibuprofen. The upper pain is def muscle I think as deep heat and painkillers cured it lower back and side pain is still bad though
Weegiemum poor you that pain is meant to be worse then labour pains.
A&E both my Dad and DP are paramedics and felt I do not warrant a visit there -as they are afraid that I might come back with worse--
