Worrier first-time mum here. DS (8mo) has been ill with a cold/temperature - he's better now but has developed red circles under his eyes, not bright red, kind of reddish-purple but quite noticeable. Is that normal? Could it be a sign of anything bad? Have tried googling (in paranoid fashion as not advised by GPs) but can't find out much.

Is he well now?
If so, I'd just keep an eye on him and then make an appointment with your GP on Monday if it's not gone. However if he's still not 100% how about ringing NHS Direct for their advice? Never heard of this TBH and I've got three boys

Dehydrated? Is he drinking enough and does he have lots of wet nappies? Tiredness too can give that haggered look.

Thanks LMB, he's pretty well, no temp, happy in himself and has been happy at nursery today. They didn't remark on it so maybe it's more noticeable to me!

Not dehydrated, I've checked for that and been giving himlots of fluids. Could be tired from being up late with sniffles for a few nights.

Has he banged/been rubbing his nose hard??

snowleopard · 04/02/2006 10:28

no... but it is slightly better today. I'll go with tiredness theory and take him to doctor if it doesn't clear up.
Thanks...
