Citalopram side effects

I've just started taking Citalopram (10mg at moment) and feel like I'm cycling through the whole side effects list! Can anyone please reassure me that this will settle down soon? Thanks!

Yes it will settle, just keep with it.

Thank you. At the moment they're making me feel worse, not better! Do you know how long it lasts?

I had it for about a fortnight then it really stopped. If it doesn't settle tell your GP - it may not be the drug for you.

Are you going back to the GP anyway?

It may not settle. With me I felt like Jeckyll and Hyde on the pills. I changed to mood stabilisers for bi polar and the side effects only lasted a fortnight/maximum three weeks. The GP will tell you to give them about three months as they take around a month to build up in your system but if nothing has significantly changed in that time don't be afraid to ask for alternatives.

Yes, back to gp in three weeks from start is the plan, with step up to 20mg at two week point.

I took citalopram for about 2 years to help with anxiety and panic attacks. I can honestly say they were my life saver. Like you I felt some side effects during the first week or so, but then they settled in and started to work like a dream. I only needed to take 20mg a day although I think some people take much more.

Make sure you're being closely monitored by your GP, and good luck.

Thanks Lou - I'm feeling much, much less jittery today so I'm really hoping that things are settling down a bit.

It's taken me such a long time to admit I needed a bit of help, I just want them to be OK now.
