Sore throat for 3 weeks!

Only on one side but hurts like hell at night and is waking me up. Had a viral thing about 3 weeks ago and still coughing a bit. Could it be tonsilitis?

Just wondered whether I should go to the GP.

Have you looked at your tonsils in the mirror with a torch? if you have tonsilitis you will have white spots on your tonsils, also one may be bigger than the other, you can also get an ulcer on the tonsil. It sounds as if you have put up with it long enough and may need some anti biotics.

I have had similar, it turned out to be tonsilitis, but also teamed with a cough and flu like symptoms for the past month or so, anti biotics cleared up the tonsils though which really helped.

Hope you get it sorted soon, its miserable.

Thanks, will have a look. Just getting a bit fed up with it now. Its not something I would normally bother the doctor with but think I will give them a ring on Monday if its not better.

I had a six week sore throat following a viral infection. It was tiny ulcers that kept coming and going. Just when I thought they were gone they'd come back again and living with the infection was very draining. It seems to have gone this week - it's not tonsillitis because I don't have any.

Funny that, it did seem to go away but then has come back over the last couple of days.

might go and get some ice cream, purely for medicinal purposes only.

So Saturday I said it was gone. Sunday at 4pm it suddenly came back . Anyone have any ideas for this. I first got ill on 29 Jan and so this is almost two months now.

Last year I took olive leaf extract and didn't get one cold. You need to boost your immune system probably with lots of vitamin c.
