I was in thr bath last night, when I put my head under the water (as you do )to wet my hair by ear starded throbbing, so like an idiot I did it again to see if it was the water doing it, and boy do I wish I did'nt, I immediately shot out the bath, the pain was unbearable and I could'nt breathe because of the pain. It did subside a little but I was in agony all night to the point where I could of cried, evetually fell asleep about 5am this morning. Today there is only a slight ache and my ears keep popping.

Now I remember my last earache, it was 24 years ago, when I was 5, never had one since, so is what happened last night the start of an ear infection.

BTW, my ears are clean

You could have an infection, or it could be a build-up of wax in your ear - if water gets trapped behind the wax it can cause pain and pressure against the ear drum.

Maybe it is that then, water was coming out of my ear all night, blimey it was so painful then, think I will stick to showers for a while.

Great now I can bearly hear, at a guess I would say I have lost at least 50% of my hearing, still on a good not I cant hear the kids whinging
I suppose a trip to the gps is necessary now, though still only a slight ache, and I feel fine otherwise.

Waterfalls,

I REALLY can sympathise with you. I was just fine and dandy earlier. At around 8pm, I bent down to pick something up off the floor and bam!!! My ear suddenly felt full of fluid and then the pain set in gradually. I tried to go to bed and did cry as the pain is soooooo awful (I told dh I would rather give birth naturally again, it didn't hurt this much). I am currently sitting here typing one handed while the other hand is pressing one of those hand warmer gel pad things to my ear.

It's going to be a long night......ibuprofen & paracetemol taken together haven't even touched the pain

Poor you. From your description it sounds like you may have a perforated ear drum. Usually the most acute pain subsides once your ear is 'leaking' gunk. If it is still painful you may well need antibiotics. Take care x

Oh yes, definately perfortated, and still quite paiful. It "popped" at 3.45am and I finally got to bed at 5am. Now I just need some indication as to how long my ear will keep dribbling. I don't really want to have to go to the gp, but my jaw is sore too.
