Only 1 week between periods??

My periods are usually very regular - last about 6 days. Last one was a bit longer, finished on the Tuesday and 1 week later started again. I'm not on any hormonal BC. Anyone had this and it just turned out to be "one of those things"? Do I need to see a Doctor??

Such changes to the cycle should always be reported to the GP.

You should definately see a doctor :)

I wouldn't necessarily panic right away op but I would definately see a doctor sooner the better if only to stop you worrying! It might just be a hormone imbalance and a coil or the pill could help regulate them again or depending on your age could it be pregnancy?/ menopause?

ginmakesitallok · 21/03/2012 14:21

Definitely not pregnancy, and am only 37 so I hope not menopause!

Stress and anaemia can also play havoc with menstrual cycle. Hope you can get a gp appointment soon op :)

Whats the doctor likely to do, and do you think it would be OK to bring DD along (she's 2 and a half and no other childcare this week)

Might well take bloods maybe an internal exam if he thinks it's required but there's usually a curtain just bring a snack for dd to eat while he does it and maybe a Teddy and a favourit toy to keep her quiet. If a more in depth chat with doc is needed then book another appointment for a time when ur child free but I really wouldn't put it off :) I have taken my dd to a smear test before she just sat on a chair while it was done by a nurse behind a curtain and I kept her talking to me so I knew she hadn't moved.
