Improved diet but feel terrible??

I admitted recently that I was drinking too much. And eating unhealthily. Since Monday, I have not drunk alcohol (have drunk sparkling eater or fruit juice instead) and have substituted carbs for fruit.

I have noticed an improvement in my skin (tho have implemented better skincare so this is probably more to do with it)

But I feel terrible. Achy, bad tummy, eyes hurt !?!, lethargic. I was expecting to feel better and have more energy. How long does it take to start feeling better?

Your body is reacting to having been poisoned with junk food and crap, I would say a few more weeks yet, by which point, if you keep it up you will have created a new eating habit, which you can hopefully stick to... ditch the fruit juices for water as well, or a hot water with lemon is good

If you were drinking lots and regularly then you may be in a withdrawal process, it will be around a fortnight before you start to feel better.

I think with any diet improvement there is always a dip before things feel better.

A few weeks!?! Oh, goodness! I didn't feel this bad before.

I do have so much more patience with the kids tho, so i will definitely stick it out, but I have such a headache this morning - which didn't have when i was drinking the best part of a bottle of wine a night Confused

Thanks tho.

can I ask what I can do to make it easier?

Would still water be better than sparkling? I have had the worst tummy since Wednesday. Are there any supplements I could take? ALL my joints ache!!

How much fruit are you eating? Too much fruit can cause a sore tummy - especially if you aren't used to it.

I've been eating 5 pieces a day, plus fruit juice.

I probably managed 1 before - if that! Blush

Might you be constipated? I find too much wine gives me the trots, so cutting back might bung one up somewhat. That would account for headache and tummy ache.

Another thought - are you actually eating enough? You no longer have all the calories from the wine and the carb snacks.

Well done though. Hope you feel better soon.

5 pieces of fruit is a lot! 2 is enough - you should be making up your 5 with veggies.

Definitely sounds like you are detoxing, I always get a bad headache if I start eating healthier but once that goes I feel a million times better! Try not to have so much fruit, if you have to drink fruit juice then dilute it (very tasty diluted with fizzy water!) so you are only drinking half as much. Try peppermint tea, it's really good for digestion.

Well done on changing it so much, if you stick at it it'll be worth it! Just think of this as being a hangover from all the crap you had been filling your body with!

Also remember that the Virus From Hell is doing the rounds so it may be something to do with that on top of/instead of the changes to your diet. Have you taken your temperature?

Well done by the way :)

Thankyou all.

Marjorie Def NOT constipated Blush Other way around!!!!

Rockchick - Yes I do believe this is a detox I'm going through - just didn't expect it to be so bad and can't wait for it to feel better!!

OMGBFP - You know, I did wonder that, I do feel a lot better today and 2 friends were both ill with 24 hour bugs yesterday, so wonder if that had something to do with it.

One thing is for sure, though - I have lost weight this week and I have a much flatter tummy!!
