Hi

Dh has just been prescribed zimovane by our GP. He works nights and can't sleep in the day, which in turn is a risk factor in re-triggering the depression he used to get. He has to take it for a month and then go back. Any experience / advice anyone?

TIA

I had it for a short period of a week, to reset my sleeping pattern following trauma.

I didn't like the thought of taking it, so would wait until I knew I couldn't fall asleep myself and end up taking it in the early hours, crash out for the rest of the night then wake in the morning and continue like a zombie for the following few hours, while it was still taking effect. Very strong metallic taste accompanied it too.

So long as he takes it when he's going to bed (unlike me!) he'll be fine and yes, it definitely works

Thank you.

My only real concern from what I have read is that the website advises addiction can occur after 7 days, but dh has been told to take ofr a month before GP will review. Is that a bad idea?

It is a very effective sleeping pill

personally I only ever took it for three nights running

all sleeping pills are 'addictive' in that you get into the habit of them then can't sleep without them
