Are threadworms anything to do with worms in cats?

One of my kids has threadworms. Have seen GP and have got meds to treat the whole family.

But I was wondering where they are caught from exactly? I know you get them from not washing hands properly but wanted to know if there is any connection to cats having worms?

oh thank you!

dh is convinced that our cat is to blame even though i assured him it wasn't!

ds is being driven mad by the itching at bedtime - anyone know how to alleviate this? I had to put him in a tepid bath at 11.30 last night and get him to put sudocreme on his bum as he was unable to sleep and very distressed.

Everyone will be taking the meds tonight - how long before they work?
