Scraped knees-what is the current thinking?

ds (13) has badly skinned his knee playing football on the lane. Hmm

I have dressed it with a non stick dressing, it's about 3x2cm so quite big, he has a piece of tubi stuff over to stop it coming off in bed.

Should I keep dressing it tomorrow or let the air get to it? I am out of the loop for such things.

Moist wound healing has now been shown to heal more effectively then letting them dry out. so redress.

Go to the chemists and get some hydrocolloid dressings. Try to leave each dressing on for several days and just clean inbetween changes Smile

We usually apply an Inadine dressing for a few days prior to the hydro being used, so you could do that if you wanted. It will prevent infection.

Thanks I'll save this page to show to dh when he tells me I should let the air to it. Grin

Now who can tell me how to stop him playing football in the back lane and get him to go to the park instead?
