Confused by pain in left hand side

For the past 4 years have had pains that are on my left hand side (where ovary is) and spreads to my back.
They come and go and sometimes I will be doubled up in pain and then go weeks without anything.
I just don't know if they are to do with my ovary or bowel (I do suffer with constipation, sorry for TMI).

I am worried sick I may have cancer but my df who works in a hospice said if I did and had these symptoms for 4 years left untreated I'd be dead by now

Anyone else had this?

it could be a kidney problem, nonetheless you shopuld get it checked out by your gp.

it sounds like it's to do with the constipation to me.
i have had a pain in the side and back before that was because of bad digestion and trapped wind.

but of course i'm no doctor

Yes conspitation sounds a likely cause esp re the left side. Try to sort your bowels out with dietary changes/drinking LOTS of water.. and then see if the pain eases. Chances are it will.

I have majorly changed my diet, drinking loads more water, eating more fruit,veg, fibre etc. Also been taking actimel. Hardly drink alcohol anymore.
I am infact going to see the consultant in a few weeks as have had piles and need to have them investigated and am so scared it's something more sinister.
ff - what did you do to make things better? had you had pains for a while?
