Sick bug or migraine?

On Friday I had a headache in the morning. I started to feel really bad, so told DH I had to lie down as I had a migraine coming. It was my Sister's BD, so I thought if I took a maxalt, then lay down for 2 hours, it might be enough to allow me to carry on.

After about an hour, I still had the terrible headache, but felt really very sick. I phoned my DF to say I couldn't come, as I had a sick bug (DD1 had a sick bug earlier in the week). It seemed quite bad luck to have both a migraine and a sick bug.

Finally, at around 2pm, I started being sick. I stopped being sick by 4 pm.

The headache remained and was terrible all evening. My DH went to bed at around 10.30 pm, and I was going to follow, but felt quite weak. I tried to get up, but I couldn't feel my body - everything was tingly.

I had to phone DH on his mobile from the lounge, and ask him to come and help me to bed. But I couldn't speak very well. I told him I couldn't see. DH didn't realise I was feeling so very poorly, and thought that I just wanted him to turn the light on. I kept trying to tell him, but I couldn't say the words. I couldn't tell him that I couldn't see, and I couldn't keep my balance.

I stumbled up the stairs, and rushed to the toilet, but sort of crashed down on it. Then I finished on the loo, and collapsed in the hallway. I couldn't explain to DH what was happening, and only managed to say 'just need to sleep. pillow. just put a towel on me.' Poor DH, not knowing I was feeling so poorly, did as he was told. I don't remember after that - but next morning I was half-dressed in bed. I think perhaps DH helped me into bed.

Last year I was very poorly with migraines, in and out of hospital because of medicines interacting.

Does this sound like the sick bugs that are going around, or more like a migraine with new symptoms?

personally suffering from bad migraines you sound like you've had a really bad bout of migraine but I am concerned that you couldn't tell your DH what you needed. I would go and get yourself checked out (not an expert but isn;t some of this also symptoms of a stroke)?

I hope your ok and please let us know how you get on?

I have a bit of knowledge about migraines (I suffer with classic migraines with aura). It sounds like you may have had a hemi-plegic migraine. In any case I think you should definitely get checked out by your GP.

Thank you both, that's what I was thinking. I normally take metoprolol, aspirin, and amitryptiline to try and keep the migraines at bay, then Maxalt or Frovotriptan (depending on whether they are a 'one off' or if I expect them to be a cluster - my migraines are hormone related) at first sign of a migraine.

Last year I ended up in hospital because I kept passing out. They realised it was the medication. Looks like another trip to the doctors. Blasted migraines.

good luck Lougle, mine also hormone related so can totally sympathise.
