my 2 yr old has been constipated for over a week. I have been giving her lactulose but to no avail. Any suggestion as to what will help. She is now scared of going as it will hurt.

I was fobbed off by useless Dr three times, before ringing NHS Direct & getting emergency referral. Sometimes you just have to kick up a fuss to get some attention!

have been to a&e they did not listen to me send me home again. Also asked gp for a referal but he keeps saying that it is normal(rubbish).Going tomorrow to get referal not taking no for an anwser

Tell them you have a friend (ME) who had a husband (my dh) who is a clinical negligence lawyer and that in his opinion this is clearly not normal and a referral is required

Usually does the trick

can't be of much help - just re-iterating an earlier contributor - "bundle". I read a while ago that research had been carried out re kiwi fruit and found that including them in diet pretty much guaranteed regular, soft poo. It wasn't in relation to kids but imagine would have same effect.
