Chest Infection Groundhog Day

2 weeks ago today I started with the virus from hell, hot and cold achey etc. By Thursday last week I was at the GP's because I thought I had a chest infection and I was right.

Started taking Erythromycin, and realised by Wednesday this week that I wasn't any better.

Saw GP and am now on Doxycycline. Took 2 on Wednesday and one yesterday, then it's one a day.

When might I see a difference? Sad I feel fine apart from the coughing and tiredness. Sad

can you get yourself some sambucol? I have a very didgy chest and I have found that sambucol is great in circumstances like this. It';s a bit expensive but it really does work.

Hope you feel better soon

Ooh thanks Agincourt. I will go and investigate. I am so fed up of coughing and I am sure the family are too. Sad

Aww Sparkling Sad poor you.

Fwiw, DS1 is still poorly 4 weeks on and on his second lot of different abs for a chest infection. His cough is so bad, he keeps vomiting. I feel exhausted for him.

I think it does take a lot longer for us to get over chest infections than kids you know (veteran chest infection person).

Buy some friars balsam from the pharmacy, use it as a steam inhalation with a bowl of boiling water and a towel i.e not one of those cup things every night. Then try to cough. You will bring up loads more crap off your chest.

Crap being a medical term.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2012 22:53

Thanks all-I hope I haven't got the side effects to look forward to. Sad

I feel ok except for the coughing and rattling. How will i know when they start to work, will the crap start coming up?

It feels like the crap needs to come up so I will be doing some steaming. I haven't been ill for this long for years. It's exhausting.

Your poor DS Bella, I was sick when it first started but not so much now.
