Spotting after intercourse with an IUD

I had an IUD fitted 3 weeks ago and me and DP have had sex maybe half a dozen times since then.

The last time I had a little pink spotting afterwards. Not loads - just enough to turn the 'mess' pink. Should I be worried? Is this pretty normal?

Am super paranoid about it potentially falling out and just worry that this is a sign that it's not quite 'in' correctly!!

I'll start with the line that any post coital bleed should be investigated according to most of the medical literature...but will finish by saying that I think what you've experienced is typical of having an IUD. It is known for the odd bit of spotting, which can be explained by the strings irritating the cervix.

I don't think it means it's falling out. Just make sure you check the strings regularly. And, if the spotting continues, happens in between intercourse, and gets more heavy then head to the docs for a check that all is as it should be.
