Started with a sore throat sun, woke up throughout the night as its that painful, saw gp yesterday said it didn't look like tonsillitis (no white spots). Fricking kills tho!

Woke up today red face (flushed), rash all over chest and neck. Tried to put my make up on but my face felt so sore, sat here now with Vaseline on it.

Diagnose me :-D

I think you need to telephone your GP rather than ask us lot! Hope whatever it is you are soon feeling better.

Scarlet fever? Does the rash look like sandpaper?

pinkyp · 06/03/2012 15:28

I have a gp appointment at 5:30, just thought I'd ask for a bit of fun / whilst googling Blush my face is so sore, rash spreading and looks red and feels hot.

Slapped cheek?

Measles is characterised by Koplick's spots early on (white, in throat) though these are often missed as they pass off quickly. The rash starts behind the ears, and spreads from there down the body towards extremities. It looks lacey, but then becomes generally red.

If you are old, like me, and have had the disease, you won't get it again. If you have been immunised it is unlikely (though possible) you'd get it.

As it is a highly infectious (and notifiable) disease, you had better get in touch with GP to arrange to be tested and if GP agrees measles is likely put yourself in strict isolation until the rash has gone.

But as other posters have pointed out, there are many other possibilities for sore throat with rash.

I had it a couple of years ago. It looked like tonsilitis to the dr. A few days later the rash started. The rash didn't feel uncomfortable, maybe scarlet fever.

Apparently it's tonsillitis - my throat is actually starting to feel better though :-/ rash has spread and I have a tomatoe face like this Angry

Sounds more like scarlet fever to be honest. I'd go back and ask for it to be swabbed. Treatment is the same, 7 days of antibiotics for scarlet fever though. Don't go back if you're on the same treatment.
