giving up my wine habit - anyone else doing this?

just wanted to know if anyone is giving wine/alcohol a miss at the moment? I stopped at the beginning of January and its going OK. (apart from the weekend - went out on saturday and had 5 glasses of red wine and woke up feeling dreadful). the positives are weight loss (about 7lbs, but would still like to lose another7!), sleeping really well, and eating healthier. the negatives are that I wake up still feeling like i have a bit of a hangover, getting really bad heasdaches during the day, and spots. anybody out there who is experiencing the same? and do I stay off it in February except when going out).

I gave up in jan and intend to carry on to half term. It took me a good two or three weeks to feel better (I had the things you describe) but I feel great now and hope I have really broken the nightly bottle of wine habit DP and I had developed. I started taking milk thistle and that has co-incided with me feeling good.

Advantages for me have been financial - really noticed that the shopping bill has plummeted, lost weight, my skin is glowing, more energy and generally less sluggish.

My plan is to limit drinking to weekend only and a couple of glasses at a time.

yep, dry here since Jan 2nd, and not really missed it at all.
Strange considering how often, and how much I was drinking (esp over Christmas)
I was going to stop at end of Jan but I may just carry on (have lost 5lbs and want to lose lots more)

Are you drinking lots of water pashmina? That will help clear the skin etc.

probably not drinking enough water, except my DH and I share a bottle of Bodoit with dinner. I am drinking Green Tea, and start the day with hot water and lemon.
I was drinking way to much, we would open a bottle every night with dinner, and would always finish it, and then I had no will power, and if DH said "one more glass" we would open another, and finish that too. don't think I would call myself an alcoholic, but did become dependant on it. I was also getting tingling in my hands and arms, not sure if it was bacause of alcohol?
anyway, I am going to try to keep it up for a while just to proove tyo myself I don't need it if nothing else!
