Reducing steroids - side effects horrendous

On prednisone and been reducing quantities over last few weeks but the side effects are worse now than when I was on full dose.
Face and neck really swollen
Swollen hands and feet
Spasms in hands
Pins and needles, hands and legs
Headaches
Muscle pains, so bad I cant walk properly
So so very very grumpy and bad tempered - nightmare to live with

I dont know if this is normal. Doctor keeps saying symptons will go away and not to worry but my erratic behaviour is really upsetting my family and I am a a nightmare to live with at the moment. I know I am snapping but cant help it

Doctor says he wants to get me off prednisone as soon as possible so wants to carry on reducing dosage

Would appreciate any feedback from those in the know - thank you

Hi Iamseeing, I have had organ transplants - I really hope your stemcell transplant went well :) I have come off prednisilone before but have never experienced everything you are going through. For me it was more exhaustion and weakness I felt. Do you also take tacrolimus? I take this and when my levels are too high I get some of the symptoms you have described. You were on a fairly high dose of pred and have been weaned down pretty quickly. I was weaned off by about 5mg every other week.

I am talking to doctor all the time but they just keep saying its the steroids. All other medication has remained the same (but they all do have side effects as well).

The other major at the moment is I am losing magnesium and having regular infusions This again is since I started reducing the steroids. This might explain some of the symptons but I dont understand why I my magnesium levels are dropping
