Contraceptive pill and migraines

Dd 18 started taking the pill microgynon 30 about six weeks ago, she had a bad headache each night last week and an obvious migraine on Friday with vomiting. She stopped taking the pill on my advice on Friday having never had migraines before.Last night she had an even worse migraine and today she looked shocking. She will see GP on Friday. Can yesterday's migraine be caused by the pill in her system still or could it be something else? They use condoms but she wanted to take the pill as an extra precaution is it likely that she won't tolerate other hormonal contraceptives either?
Thank you for your help

I don't know about the pill staying in her system causing migraines but just wanted to say she may suit a different pill.

I didn't get on with microgynon due to migraines and mood swings but I am fine on Yasmin. My GP said it is sometimes trial and error trying to find what suits. I hope she feels better soon.

I got migranes on the Pill too (although after a few months). I was told by the dr to stop taking the Pill immediately as migranes can be a sign of blood clots. I did and have never taken it again. I just used condoms carefully for contraception for many years.

I had terrible migraines whilst on the pill (although not for years). They took me off immediately, its to do eith the increased risk of stroke.
I am not allowed to take the combined pill but the mini pill is fine, contraceptive injection and mirena coil.

Thank you all she managed to get a slot at the Drs today. She had stopped the pill straight away, her BP has risen Dr advised mini pill, implant or injection. She has a prescription for mini pill that she'll start once her period arrives and is thinking about the alternatives.
I'm a bit shocked as I took the pill for years with no problems and assumed she'd be ok as well.
