mirena vs pill vs curette vs do nothing

I posted recently about the Mirena coil. I'm 51 and having v heavy debilitating periods. I have had an ultrasound whihc reveals some adenomeiosis (sp?) and the doctor says that my options are as listed above. I am terrified of having a coil, after a previous ectopic pregnancy. I have quite a strong fear of anything foreign floating about.
Any suggestions about which option to take?

I also have a Mirena and I love it too. Give it a while to settle in and you'll be glad you did it.

I use cerazette mini-pill at the moment and have no periods. I am getting the mirena coil in March so hopefully will get on well with it too.

Another vote for Cerazette, no periods on it- fantastic! I was offered Mirena but declined; Cerazette works a treat, why change.. good luck.

Curette? Is that the same or similar to an endometrial ablation? If so, I would opt for that having had it done 3 months ago, and now have only v v light periods and no side effects at all.

Another vote for mirena coil. I am same age as you and it stopped yucky periods almost instantly. Fitting it was a breeze too.

I adore the coil, never felt so calm and relaxed about BC. I dont have periods, period pains etc anymore and it suits me (I'm 41).

The coils have moved on now and very effective. No chance of getting pregnant unless its not fitted correctly. My GP fitted it and does all the coils. As for foreign bodies, so many people live with bits inserted here and there and popping pills is no different.

Another vote for cezzarette here, no periods and were having really heavy awful ones before.
