Remedy for blocked ear after a cold?

My nasty cold from last week has gone, but I still can't hear out of one ear. It's really annoying me now and making conservations difficult. Any ideas how to shift it?

No but will watch this with interest. I too have gone deaf in one ear after having flu. Thoroughly fed up with it.

Horrible, isn't it?

Oh i hate that, its so knackering having to concentrate so hard, just to hear!

You can try putting Almond or Olive oil in your ear, twice a day - to soften the wax and hopefully make it easier to come out (This was also recommended by the nurse at my GPs)

Put a teaspoon in a cup of hot water to warm, pour the oil onto the warm teaspoon, then drip in your ear (tip head to side to help get it in)..Ideally you need the oil at body temp.
I also find it helps to put cotton wool in your ear afterwards to keep it all warm.

There are drops you can get, that sort of fizzle, but have never tried those.

I had popping ears after a cold last year and the pharmacist told me it was caused by blocked sinuses and recommended a decongestant,

I was sceptical as my nose felt finÉ but it cleared up quickly. It might be worth a try,
