Due to have keyhole surgery soon on my knee .

DH is concerned about DVT afterwards as one of his friends had it after knee surgery and was in a bad way.

How do they prevent DVT - do they give you blood thinning drugs after surgery ?or for a short period before hand but stop before surgery.

Will they give you exercise programme ?

I will be asking these questions at my pre op assessment but interested to know any MNers experience .

If you are just having an arthroscopy, then although they will DVT risk assess you, you are expected to be up and moving asap after surgery so no more measures are required.

Physio after knee surgery is totally key to your recovery, so you will need to put a lot of effort into it

Thanks Dibbler for your quick reply - yes it's an arthroscopy.

Thank you.
