Headache, sore tummy, terrible wind, constipation. Being going on for days now and I can't shake it off. Am doing Peppermint tea and capsules and anti spasm pills for belly. Not sure what set it off. What else can I try?

GP appointment. Get a referral to a state registered dietitian (NOT a 'nutritionist') who will get you to do a food diary, and see if it correlates to anything. Seriously. My IBS, I was greatly surprised to realise, is in response to fat - I thought it was oats and/or soya.

Ah, I will ask! I've been a couple of times before and they say they can't help. I keep thinking I've figured out then I get a flare up. I can't get rid of this one Sad

Sounds grim neeps. Sad Can I ask what you take?? I think I have IBS. It's always been at a cope ably low level so I've ignored it, but it's getting steadily worse. I get the opposite problem, so diarrhoea but the sore tummy, wind and headaches sound familiar. Thought I should try to find if anything helps before I go to GP, so any wisdom welcomed - sorry to thread hi-jack!

Hi Ladies, I'm not sure if I have IBS but for a number of months I have diarrhoea first thing in the morning it's as regular as clock work & I can go 3-4 times then that's it until the following day.It could be anything I'm hoping I'm ok I have a Dr's appt next Tues. I don't have stomach pains or any symptoms really but I am worried. I usually have cups of tea during the day with milk & in the morning milk with cereal which I didn't have today surprisingly no diarrhoea it could be coincidence I don't know but I'm going to keep a diary to show my GP next week. I hope that you all feel better soon :-)

is it linked to menstrual cycle?some women find thing slow down/speed up in the week before a period

rice is fairly low allergic.my dp eats plain rice and avoids wheat during an active bout as well as sweeteners and fizzy drinks as they increase the wind/discomfort

i use boscapan meds to take during these painful spasms. also whats worked best for me is white bread, and less fibre . so less fruit and veg during these times.

i love baked beans, and cabbage , onions but my gut hates them.

also found probiotic capsules from health food shop work wonders!!

Thanks for the tips. I know caffeine triggers mine. Will try avoiding wheat for a while too.

How is IBS diagnosed? I tend to get diarrhoea after my first cup of tea but I don't suffer with wind or stomach pain could I have something else. I cut out milk yesterday & if anything didn't go atall ..
