Where can I get my cholesterol tested?

I want to find out if it's ok but don't want to go to my GP for it. Lots of reasons for not wanting to go to GP, but mainly because it takes so long to get an appointment and then half a day sitting round waiting for my turn once I'm there. Also don't want a lecture if it's too high. Can I get it done at a chemists? I don't mind paying. I've looked on line for self testing kits but cutomer feedback tends to say they're not reliable.

Large Boots pharmacies, Lloyds pharmacy and some coop pharmacies will do this for you. I think Sainsbury's do it too in shops where they have a consulation room.

Some Asda pharmacies also do this in a private room.
