Sore patch on areola

ItsTimeToBurnThisDiscoDown · 20/02/2012 23:20

I've got a sore and itchy patch on my right areola, it's a bit like eczema and weeps. I've had it for about 4 months, to begin with I thought it was something to do with bf and latch, but it's in the wrong place iyswim. I've been using hydramol cream but it's not getting any better.

I'm going to see my gp, but any tips in the meantime?

Thanks

It's about 5mm in diameter, and has gone from being just a bit flaky and itchy to full on weepySad I get eczema elsewhere when I'm run down, don't know what to use on it for the best as I'm still bf. what are you using if I can be nosy?Smile

mine started off as a lump thing then started oozing crap. and gets itchy and sore and now its gone flatter and flakier and excema like. mines 3mm. just my excema moisturising stuff, I often get odd skin things and they clear up on own, but I googled this and it freaked me out a bit - that seems to be if on nipple iseld though, but some people call nipple the nipple and areola?

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 20/02/2012 23:37

I am not bf, and have never.
I get excema on legs sometimes and on wrists when allergic, have hayfever and asthma so excema and odd skin stuff ususally the norm for me, plus I get lots of spots (I sound so hot!) so at first just thought that so wasnt fussed.

Any changes at all on your nipple or breast need yo be looked at. Please please please go to the docs about it.

Been to GP today, he's prescribed some hydrocortisone and anti fungal cream (he thinks it's eczema with possibly a bit of thrush). He's fairly confident it's nothing sinister but wants to see me again in a couple of weeks to make sure it's clearing. Have you been yet Giraffe?
