Back to back colds

Hi
I've been having back to back colds for about 2 months now - literally just as I'm getting over one, another hits. They eventually move into my chest and I'm having trouble sleeping to top it all off. I am a new mum with a seven month old DD, and she is having the same thing.
Anyone else had this before? I feel like I'm going mad, I'm exhausted, and I don't know how to get myself better again.
Any advice?

i have 3 kids under 8 and we have been in a round robin of colds since november!
as a mum with a little one makes you more vulnerable-lack sleep etc
all you can do realy is try and bolster immunity by eating well and try get some sleep.plenty fresh air
all the cold bugs die down when spring comes

Increased zinc intake has been proven to shorten duration of colds. Obsessive hygiene can help, wash hands and surfaces religiously. I found Sambucol helped get rid of mine.

Thanks for the advice - I was thinking of trying some zinc, I'm already pretty obsessed with hygiene as we've had two rounds of tummy bugs to contend with too! But perhaps I'll take it up a notch!

As much sleep and rest as you can get. I'm just getting over a monster cold, which started with stuffy nose/sore throat, moved to conjuctivitis, then to horrid cough and then to ear infection Shock Angry. But that's because I was running around during the day and getting only 5-6 hours of sleep during the night.

The whole family (including GPs) basically have had a cold since my DDs started preschool months ago. We eat really well and nobody can wash their hands more than I do but we all just keep on getting them. I just can't wait for the summer. By the way, we also all had that conjunctivitis cold and it is horrible.

MrsJangles · 17/02/2012 09:38

Oh no Talking that's terrible. I'm concerned my DD has conjunctivitis so I managed to get her in for a gp appointment this morning. I hope she doesn't as I know how contagious it is... bah! Think I will take a nap with DD this afternoon!

I hope your DD is ok. The thing which irritates me the most is that parents send their children to preschool knowing full well that they are ill, but they just don't care and shove them out the door. The other kids don't stand a chance. (I'm even writing this coughing away :))
