Can having had a condom inside you for a while do you any harm?

Feel about this but had sex a few weeks ago and condom came off. Was sure that it had come right off and that it had been removed so to speak. Until this morning when I felt something come out of me as I went to the toilet and discovered the condom. Considered calling NHS Direct but as their recorded message said it was emergencies only felt I wasn't in that category. Don't really feel like going to the GP (plus is half term and really not wanting that conversation with DC there) so was hoping someone might know what a condom can do while in there.

If you've had no discharge then probably nothing - I'd have thought you'd have known if it had caused an infection by now.

I think your biggest risk is pregnancy.

I had that the next morning once, took the morning after pill. Have you had a period since?

Thank you - I also have the mirena coil so (a) no periods and (b) hopefully no chance of pregnancy. I have been feeling paranoid about pregnancy recently (but more in relation to sex slightly longer ago) so have done pregnancy tests in the past week both which were negative. Did get thrush straight after the sex of a few weeks ago which has been treated with a pessary - am slightly surprised this didn't bring the condom to light but I guess it was well hidden.

If I ever have sex again will be very carefully monitoring all condoms used. Was a weird feeling as it came out.

Went along to local GUM clinic today - felt like I was about 15 years older than everyone else in there . Practice nurse checked there was no more condom in there (there wasn't) and also checked my coil strings were OK (they were). Have been tested for STIs and will hear back about them next week. Feel quite pleased with myself for going.

Arghh this happened to me when i was 18 After about a week i noticed a smell...yuck so went to see the nurse and she said she would do a swab so she started and then said "oh.." and pulled out a condom. Cringe. STI and pregnancy tests came back clear thankfully!!! Wish mine had come out by itself though, could have saved me some embarassment!!

on your behalf.... I lost a tampon once, thought it had come out when I went to the loo as bleeding was very heavy and it felt like it had/no strings... but it hadn't... I was mortified but thankfully discovered it 12 hours later.
