This is quite embarassing, but here goes.
When i had my DS1 who is now five, i remember many times changing his nappy, he would have an erection - even from being a tiny baby. I thought it was strange at the time, but in the end, knowing nothing about little boys, i just ignored it.
But after having DS2, now 22 months, i have never seen the same thing. I was thinking the other day, which is normal? I have been told DS1 has a tight foreskin - sorry to be so graphic!! Do you think this could be the problem?

I think it's quite normal rahrah, this also used to happen to my ds when he was a baby. I have heard that it's normal, so have never worried about it. TBH I would probably think that your ds2 was more unusual, as I thought that erections in baby boys were quite common... just my thoughts anyway.

Mmmm, this is my problem. I know one must be 'normal' and the other not. There is such a difference between the two. My first very often had erections, more often than not!! But i have NEVER seen it in DS2. So that is why i worry.

Have you asked a GP about your younger son? I just feel that he is probably the more 'unusual' one, although a doctor may have a different viewpoint about it. Really not sure, but it might put your mind to rest if you ask someone about it.

You know how it is, one woman's heavy period is normal for another woman. One person's constipation is normal for somebody else. Not having a willy, I'm not too sure... but I imagine boy's bits can naturally vary too -- so the erection was 'Normal' for your DS1, and wouldn't be for your DS2.

I know a 4yo boy who has an erection whenever he goes for a wee. It's normal for him... but I don't know what the other boys will say when he goes to school!

I have 3 boys - 1 had erections regularly, the others did not. It is absolutely nothing to worry about rahrah.

Rahrah - My little brother used to have an erection when his nappy was changed after he had just woken up. That was from about the age of 2 onwards.

But it didn't happen with my 2nd little brother and it hasn't happened with my ds (now 2.5yrs).

I think it's just an individual thing personally speaking and I haven't viewed it as a problem.

Thanks eveyone.
I suppose it is just one of those things i have always wondered about, but it is not the sort of thing you ask just anyone is it? I have close friends and family, but cant ask them, as they are only experts with girls.
Thaks again.

rahrah, does ds2 play with himself? If so, then he's probably getting pleasure and therefore functioning correctly - just a more discretly than ds1! Though you might not see him playing with himself until he's out of nappies. My ds was, and still is, like your ds1.

princesspeahead · 18/11/2003 20:28

my ds1 never did (although I kept expecting him to, as my friends who had boys told me they had erections all the time as babies) - my little ds2 (10 weeks) has had quite a few already!
I think they are just different people...

No
only when they "help" it along (ds1 and watching tv)
