stiches after gallbladder

had gallbladder removal last week and have now noticed one of the keyholes has a clear stich coming out of it. anyone have any experiance of this? my hospital told me I didn't have any stiches and just told me when I phoned to go see the practise nurse on monday but im a bit worried!

Yes! I had this, they were supposed to be dissolvable stitches but one was still sticking out. I pulled it out myself in the end! Try giving it a bit of a pull but if it won't come out or it's too painful see your gp. How was it held together though if they told you that there were no stitches?

Same as shutup, in two of my incisions I had to pull out the "dissolvable" stitches with tweezers.

Don't really know how it held together! They just said it was only a small hole so would heal on its own. Thanks have tried tugging but hurts a bit so will go see gp monday

Do NOT give it a pull! It is attached to something vital that needs to be held together! You need to see GP or nurse at the hospital to have this trimmed back. It's fine - just a bit of the internal stitch poking through, but it needs to be trimmed back so you don't get infection. In the meantime keep it clean and dry and if it starts to look red, inflamed or gets painful or itchy, I'd go and see the our of hours doctor to get it dealt with.

Glad you all mentioned this. I have the clear stitches poking out of 3 of my incision sites. I just figured they'd work themselves out eventually (gallbladder surgery early Jan).

dh pulled a stitch out himself after gallbladder surgery. it was about a week after the op and one of the wounds just wasn't healing like the others. he found a bit of a stitch poking out so just pulled it out, would healed up after that. think it was the one where he had a drain in overnight.
