Period pain

Day 2 of my period - I've taken 500mg of mefenamic acid, and am in bed with a hot water bottle. Still in significant discomfort. It's not normally as bad as this; any ideas to help me feel less shitty, anyone?

Can you get to a pharmacy?
Can you take some co-codamol and ibruprofen, have a wank get some deep heat pads, stuff your face with chocolate?

Urm, do you have a powerful vibrator? I find when co-codamol and naproxen fail, holding a powerful vibrator firmly against where you would hold the hot water bottle helps to reduce the crippling cramps a little. That and avoiding anything containing sugar. Within 20 mins of eating/drinking anything sugary I'm doubled over in pain, took me years to make the connection. Really sucks when all you want to do is hide away and scoff chocolate.

Naproxen - you can now buy it over the counter in the uk in feminax ultra blue box

I have found that if I take painkillers as soon as my period starts it doesn't get a chance to get going. If I leave it til the pain starts it's really hard to get rid of it.
I have now got a Mirena coil which has pretty much stopped my periods (and no pain at all). Not for everyone though.

Hi all - sorry for the radio silence. I ate some toast and managed to sleep. Feeling a bit better now though goodness knows how I'll be in the morning.
