The whole works this morning.

Desperate to wee constantly and nothing but a dribble (sorry if TMI), burning when I wee (ow!!!!!!!), sore back, irritable, shivery!!!

Drinking loads of water, and my mum (bless 'er) is going to get some stuff from the chemist and some cranberry juice for me!!!

Going off to take some painkillers, and sit on the sofa and sulk !!!

ow!!! [[hugs]]

Ooh, it is VILE, can you go to your doc? At its worst only thing that worked for me was antibiotics.

Surfermum · 23/01/2006 10:49

Yes, ow! Horrible isn't it?

onefootinthegravy · 23/01/2006 11:10

I always use Cyclamon - lemony crystals in a sachet it really works - but in an emergency put some bicarb in water and drink it - it taste vile but will soothe very quicky - think it deacidises (if thats the right word) your wee!!
Good luck X

Sounds bizarre - but if you have a hot water bottle, fill it with hot, (not boiling) water and put it, erm, between your legs sort of high up. Helps with the residual burning pain. Also cranberry juice or barley water and loads of fluids in general to flush you through.

JonesTheSteam · 23/01/2006 12:33

Have spent half the morning on the bl**dy loo! Thinking about moving in, with a book and a supply of water!!!

Have taken one of those sachet things and drinking loads of cran. juice and water!!!

Wish it would all stop!!!!!!!!!

Bit worried about going to get DD - not sure I can go that far from the house - seem to need the loo every quarter of an hour!!!!!

Oh JTS!

Cystitis is utterly miserable. You are doing all the right things, it should alleviate really soon.

xx

Meanoldmummy · 23/01/2006 15:24

Oh dear. It's foul, isn't it?

Thanks for asking!!!!!!

Sympathies.

Put half a tub of bicarb in a warm shallow bath (or a bidet, if you have one) and sit in it. It's very soothing for all sorts of UTIs.

JonesTheSteam · 24/01/2006 10:23

Might try that tonight PC, if it's no better than it is now!!!!! Thanks!

Well, it has been getting gradually better since Monday - if I ever see another carton of cranberry juice, I'm going to throw up!!

Everything OK first thing this morning.
Took DD to school and went to Asda's.

But, since I've been home it has come back with a vengeance.

Will probably have to go to the doc for AB's now - only problem is won't be able to go until Monday morning as out-of-hours doctors will only see you if real emergency, and there are no cancellations this afternoon!!!

Why do these things re-occur at awkward times - if it had been yesterday, at least I could have attended emergency surgery this morning!!

Grrrr!!!

No - it was getting better so I hadn't bothered!!! Have bought cranberry capsules from Asda this morning, so at least I won't have to drink the bl**dy stuff on a daily basis any more!!!

Sick of drinking water as well (never been good with drinking too much of the stuff!!!)

Make an appointment at your GP's now. I put up with cystitis last month for a week doing all the home cures and drinking a swimming pool worth of cranberry juice and still it niggled on. Finally gave in and went to the GP. Within an hour of taking the antibiotics given by the doc it was better, within 12 hours it was totally gone.

JonesTheSteam · 27/01/2006 14:00

Think I'm weeing acid. Now have blood in my urine as well! Really pleasant!

Rang doc's again, and spoke to different woman who said that there is emergency surgery at 3.30, so my parents are going to look after DS and collect DD from school, so I can go.

So there is hope!! [grimace emoticon]

Phew - I'm relieved for you. I had the blood too. Doc said was classic sign of infection. Don't forget to take a urine sample or you'll have to do one in the loo while you're there.

JonesTheSteam · 27/01/2006 17:28

Thanks for all the advice and sympathy, everyone.

Doc gave me some tablets (Trimethoprim) - took a urine sample with me, but he said there was no point today as lab was closed. I'm to go back on Monday with another sample if it hasn't cleared up!!
