What sort of steroids? Prednisolone? I take steroids for my asthma (uniphyllin) and I have put weight on but that is maybe my fault for being lazy Blush. Can't say my mood is different or not that I've noticed but they affect different people differently.

LargeGlassofRed · 31/01/2012 19:42

Thanks south, yes it's prednisolone I think its quite a high dose.

I really struggle to sleep when I am on steroids - usually once or twice a year for asthma - but no one ever told me until the last time that I should take them in the morning! It helps although doesn't solve the problem, I had 14 days last time and started to get a bit more sleep the 2nd week but it is horrible - I feel exhausted but just lie awake at night :(

My mum also takes intermittent steroids for MS and although they do really help unfortunately they do have quite a lot of side effects.

I hope you feel better soon :)

Are you on them permanently? I might aswell be have had about 8 courses since nov, wouldn't be surprised if then do put me on them permanently as my asthma is so bad, I think they forgot about me being on uniphyllin but I've been taking them for 10 years now and they've just upped my dose.

LargeGlassofRed · 31/01/2012 21:02

Thanks, I'm on high dose for 4 weeks then have to have tests then, hopefully start reducing them, then long term I think.
Impatiantine* I was told to take them in the morning,
So I've been taking them first think, but wasn't expecting the effect on mood.
