Itchy spots on your head - anyone?

I have them on my head (def. not nits) and back of my neck and they have appeared in other random places like under my arm, then disappeared from there in a few days but still on my head. Also got a few heat lump type ones too.

Does it sound like an allergy thing? Been racking my brain trying to work out whats causing it. Got eczema on my arms and back at the mo (always do in winter) so could it be related to that?

Haven't changed washing powder (use non-bio), have started running recently (could that cause it?)

Am baffled by it but dont think GP will have any idea either (maybe am doing them a disservice but just basing it on past experience).

My son also has an itchy head, no spots tho, and its def not nits as checked a million times. He suffers from eczema a bit too. Doctor was no use as did take him.

So any itchy spotty head experts want to diagnose us? Grin Before it drives us crazy.

Psoriasis?

turnipvontrapp · 30/01/2012 22:46

No I just googled it and the symptoms aren't like my spots. Thanks tho.

My hairdresser thought they were under the skin as she couldn't see anything, but I swear they are there and I can feel them!

Anyone?

When you say definitely not nits......how have you checked?

Scabies? I had this once when I was at school - it was little itchy patches that seemed sort of dry. They appeared mostly on the tops of my arms, legs, under my jawline and a few other places.

I had this a couple of weeks ago! Lasted about five days and was incredibly itchy. Doctor was baffled and said either an allergic reaction or non-specific viral rash. He gave me some strong antihistamines but I don't know if they made any difference or it just cleared up by itself.

i feel your itch!

i'm scratching like a dog with fleas today! I have exactly the same as you, and went to the doctor on Friday. he gave me some steroid cream, but no antihistamines.

still scratching and the welts are getting bigger..... any ideas?

Dry skin? Cold weather makes my head itch!

But I did once have very itchy bumps on my head, they got a bit sore after a day or two...and turned out to be shingles. Your occasional armpit spots make that unlikely (usually runs along the course of a nerve - mine went across back of head and down side of forehead/face) though.

Good luck discovering cause - or just getting better!

Seems like an not the only one. As my eczema on my back and arms worse at mo, am wondering if there's a link. Decided to go to docs but not holding out much hope that they will know what it is.

Wondering if it's follicliitis. Or maybe it's the heat from running! Will have to stay at home with chocolate instead Grin.

Am going to get anti-allergy pillow and sheets and see if that helps.

Don't think it's shingles, have had that as a teenager and a lot worse than my current itchy head!
