What is the correct way to take Arnica?

My dh is having a vasectomy next Wednesday, and I have bought him some Arnica, as I believe it reduces bruising. However, do you take it BEFORE the operation or after or both? Asked the guy in Holland and Barrett where I bought the stuff and he just looked at me blankly and went 'I dunno love' Why work in a shop like that if you have no interest or knowledge in what you are selling!!!

I would start the night before the op and conintue for about 2 weeks afterward - or until he feels better.

Yes it does thanks. How many and how often? Sorry to be so dense, but have never used it before and it says NOTHING on the packaging!!

Arnica comes in varies forms, tabllets drops and gels. all have varying stregths, does the packet give any indication?
Also have heard that 15 mg of zinc helps with buisingand boost immune system wilst he recooperates

They are called pillules, apparantly you click them from the tube into the lid, then put them into your mouth without touching them. It also has 3g written on the side. Don't know if that helps at all.

Mmm think mine were 30c so I am not sure how that compare. I would probably take a couple, three or four times a day. But am just guessing now - I ma sure I have seen 6g tablest too.

Oh I think they are quite 'weak' then. Have you 'googled' at all?

TBH i would recommend arnica 100 rather than 30 (don't think you can get it in boots or h&b, nut try an independant chemist or homeopath).

Don't laugh, I took arnica when I got my belly button pierced, the chemist told me I could take one tab at 30c strength every dayfor a few days before then 2-3 on the day of the piercing ( i know, that a whole other thread...)then one a day after. She also reccomended the zinc.

LOL! DH had a vasectomy last July and he took Arnica beforehand and after. I think it helped. Also, make sure he wears a very tight jock-strap after the op for a few days or so. My BIL recommended this 2 days after DH had had op and lent him one! It made it much more comfortable for him. He wished he had known about that beforehand.
